OK, New job that allows me to work on
the disk! fantastic.
Since its been so long I'm just
starting over from scratch.
The current version is just a simple
BartPE with XPE containing Avast!
antivirus and a-squared anti-malware.
It contains an empty !tech folder having
only the empty folders "installs" and
"tools" for you/me to add stuff to later.
I will also be working to get this booting
from USB.

current: [0.20]

Well the CD hasn't been updated
and won't be.
I was belittled by Bulleri and I told them
I would no longer work on the CD.
Then they fired me.
If there is going to be another CD I am
going to redesign it from scratch. I'll
probably name it the OpenTech CD or
something like that since I like to share.
At least the .20 release is still highly usable.
The only things I would really add are updates
and the Malwarebytes Antimalware program
it really kicks ass.

Just a quick update to the CD..
The Norton Removal tool was expired so
I had to replace it. No big deal.
I need to either hex edit that thing so
it DOESN'T expire.. or at least find a
hacked version somewhere.

OK, so I've been working on the techCD for some time now
and have only recently posted here about it.
Here's a basic evolution:

Slax bootCD with some basic tools.. fully inspired by the techCD
from my previous job contracting for Digital Doctors.
(Which in turn was inspired by the Hiren's BootCD.)

From there I wanted to add the ability to boot a custom
BartPE because that has all kinds of nifty tools.
All the while adding more and more Windows cleaning tools.

I wanted to trash Slax as I only needed three or so tools
from Linux now that BartPE worked so well.
I went on to make my own mini-distro of Linux to slap on to
the CD.

VistaPE was an option but I decided against it due to the
memory footprint.

Got the Linux fine tuned and BartPE optimized.

Added DOS with tools for unlocking hard drives.

and now I'm here.. with version .19.

One of the other Tech's, Jason, has been messing with
his own techCDs.. one based on Vista and the other based
on a pre SP1 XP preinstallation kit CD. Nothing has really
come of it.. Vista provides better out-of-the-box SATA
support and preSP1 XP has a nice small memory footprint.
My current Linux RAM disk loads well in 96MB RAM on the
virtual machine though.. it has Avast. If I need to shrink
to something smaller I can run linux from the CD and I
don't think anything could touch how little RAM that will
use.

The current dominant abilities of my CD are as such:

[[[ ]]]

If boot to Linux:
  -SMART status (smartctl)
  -virus scan (avast)
  -data recovery (ddrescue)
-data backup (ntfsmount + USB support)

If boot to BartPE
  -Load user's registry hives and:
    =virus scan (avastPE)
    =spyware scan (Spybot)
=junk file clean (avast junk cleaner)
    =registry clean (avast regclean)
  -test internet
  -defrag (dirms)
  -check disk (chkdsk)
  -regitry editing (regeditPE)

If boot to DOS
  -unlock hard drives

If boot to NTPassword
  -clear NT passwords

If boot to DFT
  -test hard drives for errors

If boot to Memtest
  -test PC memory

If boot to Windows
  -Windows
=Installers for antivirus: Avast and AVG
    =Installers for antispyware: SuperAntiSpyware, SpywareBlaster
=Installers for Junk cleaners: ATFcleaner and CCleaner
    =HP network printer installer

  -tools
    =autoruns
    =winsockfix
    =Dial-a-Fix
    =A2 antispyware
    =RogueRemover
    =disk speed tester
    =ycopy
    =treepie
    =Driver Detective
    =key finders

  -network tools
    =traceroute
    =winbox
    =ftp
    =port scanner

and much much more..

Sometimes I add games.. or extra stuff like OpenOffice..
if I have the space..
.19 has tons of extra space due to optimizations..
but I wanted to keep this disk clean and to the point..
I even removed the games folder.

.18 had some DOS games and DOSemu

.17 had Sudoku and some other goodies

I will keep working on it for sure.. since it's for work..
but I release it to the world.. these tools help good techs..

you need to know PCs and how to use these tools first though..
after that..
life is pain without a techCD.
