[C P C] ] Prescott LAN [ -200809031500- So I've been tossing around in my mind whether or not to begin a LAN party in Prescott. My first thoughts were a battle between using the nice experience I have from SLAGG and my nice gigabit switches versus keeping my time dedicated to more lofty and advancing hobbies. Like building an electric vehicle.. I was content with the idea of having dedicated time to just productive and highly rewarding projects. It was only till now.. September.. did I realize that I have a lot more time and interest than previously assumed. I enjoy computer gaming.. and computers in general. I have found that recently I have been playing all sorts of PC games in my spare time. Some of the mods that are coming out are truly inspiring and reinvigorating. Over the weekend I was able to clock an outstanding 20 hours on the video game Freelancer. ($10 at Officemax!) I realized after such an escipade that the time I am "allocating" for "rewarding projects" is a completely different beast from the time I allocate for complete escapism. I think a whole heck of a lot on a whole range of things. My brain works hard and well and I like to reward it by allowing it to venture off into wonderland. PC gaming is a terribly fun hobby. I never denied this. I just denied myself the ability to host a party.. since I figured it would hinder my progress in life. The flaw in thinking is quite clear and simple now. I talked with Nikki about it a few weeks back and she seemed to have the same view.. "It's only one day a month" You see.. men should listen to their g/fs more often ;-) The result: So today I took the plunge and requested from Dino Bulleri himself that I be granted time for me and some other pasties occupy one of his vacant rooms once a month. I offered him $300 an event to cover space and electricity. He agreed with ghusto. He saw no reason to deny my request and I'm thrilled by that. The other potential co-gamers from work I have questioned all seem to be interested. As a side note I was shown an overwhelmingly positive response when I mentioned Freelancer.. and here I thought no one even knew about that game. There have been discussions about possibly hosting our own server. Current list of potentials: Myself Isaac Charles Jason Jared Robert That's 3v3 right off the bat.. I've held LANs with less. So one could assume, as long as we petition more, that we will at least have 3v3. lol The date I'm looking at currently is November 1st. That should give us enough time to gather interest and for me to study for my LPI exam. I've also been thinking of neat names for the thing: PLAN - Prescott LAN PPCGC - Prescott Personal Computer Gamer's Club PLAG - Prescott Local Area Gamers PLANPO - Prescott Local Area Network Party Orginization LAGoP - Local Area Gamers of Prescott CGoPC - Computer Gamers of Prescott Club CGPC - Computer Gamer's Prescott Club CGCIPC - Computer Gamers In Prescott Club PALANPC -Prescott Arizona's LAN Party Club PLANC - Prescott's LAN Club I think PLANC is the coolest.. simple and easy to remember.
